Ms_Curvy's travels.

I’m not an engineer nor have I ever been with one *frowns* I do however know that those people have built, on our own shores a master piece that for a very small fee you can ride. I don’t know about you but I have always loved reading and I lived most of my life on the silver screen. What struck me about these movies and books was the underground railway. That was until now, what set America and Europe apart from our little country but no more, the gap is getting smaller and smaller.

America has its Subway and London its Tube and we now have the Gau Train. If you have been in the Gauteng Province and have never been on this modern day African marvel then shame on you. Besides its efficiency, comfort and lighting speed this is a ride I believe every person must go on if not once but often. I will not delve into its mechanical workings as I am no expert on that field but I will however touch on its FABULOSITY, and that ladies and gentlemen is something I hold a doctorate in. If Kimora Lee Simmons is the president of all things fabulous then I am her deputy.

We all love exclusivity and to escape from our dreary mundane lives into a world where everything is possible and attainable. Well even if it is just for 20 minutes, the ride on the Gau Train delivers this and it never disappoints. With every stop it’s as if you are transported further and further into a world you know is yours for the taking. Or maybe that’s just me. I feel at home every time I’m on it all that’s missing is a personal chef, masseuse and hairdresser I honestly could live there. You cannot talk about travelling in style unless you have boarded that train, trust.

It has already been a year on the rails but it does not disappoint and it is all that it was said to be, no false advertising. What makes me a South African you ask? The damn GauTrain! This is just one of the things that make me proud to be South African. Next time your girlfriend moans about you not being romantic, take her on the train, that will be the best 35 minutes of silence money can ever buy.

I did a lot of things when I was in Johannesburg and one of those included riding this beast. I knew that leaving without doing it would be an injustice and all would not be well with my soul. I realise that a lot of you have not been on it and the last time and only time you saw it was on T.V when its arrival was advertised. Well fear not Ms_Curvy took the liberty of taking a lot of pictures and sharing them with you. Next time you are in Gauteng don’t even think twice just get on it.

The atmosphere is unlike no other think of it as an underground airport and it like an airplane on the rail. This is a first in Africa and it has lived up to its name let me tell you,it's all that and then some. Considering the fact that it is not too costly, everyone can ride like the other half do, just once.
